The Tarkio Valley Antique Tractor Association was created for the enjoyment of anyone with interest in old tractors and farm equipment. The only requirements is an Interest. If you have an old tractor or machinery, restored or un-restored is fine, but again is not needed. Our organization is for fun, enjoyment, helpfulness and creating new friendships. Activities include, plowing bee's, tractor shows, games, parades and tractor cades to different towns. The meetings are on the second Tuesday of every other month, starting with January at 7:00 P.M. at the Yorktown Hall, in Yorktown, IA, which includes very interesting programs at every meeting. Everyone is welcome and bring a friend. See you there.

The Pony Express Riders of Iowa's 2nd Annual Tractor Cruise was July 23.  Beginning in Farragut, tractors from Fremont, Montgomery, Page and Taylor counties in Iowa and Atchison county in Missouri rode 26 miles to Sidney for lunch provided by the Fremont County Cattlemen.  After lunch, the participants of the 32 tractors enjoyed time at the Fremont County fair before returning 16 miles to Farragut and homemade ice cream provided by the Tarkio Valley Antique Tractor club.  Because of the generosity of the cruise participants, the Fremont County Cattlemen, Fremont County fair board, Orscheln and Fareway stores in Shenandoah and the tractor club, the cruise raised $627 for Camp Sunnyside.  Cruise organizer, Dan Whitehill is already planning and looking forward to the family friendly cruise in 2017.

The Tarkio Valley Antique Tractor club’s bimonthly meeting was held May 10 at the Yorktown town hall.  A calendar of events for 2016 was handed out to the 48 in attendance. The May program was provided by the Mt Ayr FFA on restoring  an Allis Chalmers WD for display at the Iowa State Fair.  The WD had been donated to the FFA group by TVATA member Jim Collins.  On behalf of the TVATA, to help with the restoration,  Jim Collins, Gene Ripley and Fred Sandahl presented a check for $250 to Mt Ayr FFA members Clay Wymer and Eian Adams and their advisor Jay Meester.  TVATA members are looking forward to participating in Cruzin’ Clarinda June 4 and will host a spring tractor drive in New Market on June 11.  New members always welcome!
